Austin has Scabies :(

Last night when I got home from work I put my stuff down and kissed my boys hello. Well when I went to kiss Austin he was scratching his butt and saying, "hiney, hiney, hiney" and was kinda fussy. I asked if he had poopy and he said, "no, I itchy". Well he has a form of exxema, so I thought that maybe since the weather is cooler it flared up again. I take a look at his hiney and it looks soooo bad. he had what looked like bites on him and he had scratched it raw and it looked like he tightened his butt muscle and couldn't release it. Okay so we go for the benadryl cream... screaming baby, screaming baby!!!
To the bathtub it is! after a nice warm bath and some liquid benadryl he finally crashes out only to wake up 8 times in the middle of the night. Now that he is in a big bed I just crawled in the bed with him to get some sleep. I knew at that point we would be making a trip to the doctor today.

This morning we get up and head to the doctor's office, thankfully they fit us in early. After the doctor looking at him and consulting the nurses and their medicle books they come to the conclusion that he has SCABIES!? What the heck is that I ask???

Well if you look up on webmd.com there is lots of information on what it is but short version is that it's like a mite that burries itself in your skin and then causes a rash. Kind of like a chigger but it takes lots of creams and stuff to kill it. Unlike chiggers though it can be passed to anyone and is very contagious. I have to wash all surfaces and bedding and clothing this weekend. I also have to take all our pets to the vet to be checked for the animal form of scabies.
Animal scabies can not be transmitted to humans or vise versa. Still just to be safe our doctor said we should get them checked.
We get a RX for 3 creams to apply and one of them all of us in our little family(excluding pets) have to put on from head to toe before bed and wash off in the morning and do it again in 7 days.

So today I am leaving work early, hopeing I didn't share this bug, (no pun intended) with my co-workers. And tonight we get to rub up with cream, sounds fun huh!

Back to Life, and I'm a pumkin

Well our wonderful fun filled anniversary, mini vacation has ended and now it's back to school for the kids and work for us. But we had a great time, we ate and slept till we were stuffed and almost rested. It was a great time to remember why we got married and how much fun we have together, and we laughed a lot. We were able to see our good friends and go hear a pretty good band play. We shopped and saw a movie and ate some more. That is my kinda time!
The kids stayed with Paul's parents and I think the seperation was harder on me then it was for them. I knew Andrew would be fine but I have gone a night without Austin yet and I had slightly hoped he would cry at bedtime or miss me in some way but no such luck, I know that my baby is 2 1/2 and I can't let him go for a night but he's most likely the last baby I'm gonna have so I want to cherish every minute of it.

Anyway, speaking of babies... Austin is no longer in his crib. We had a day bed in his room as a guest bed since we moved into this house so we finally decided to move his crib out of his room and put him to sleep in his big bed. He has done great so far! The first night we had to put him back to bed twice but after that first night we didn't have to anything other than put him to sleep and kiss him goodnight. Napping hasn't beed a problem either. I think he likes it!

I will post pictures of his new room arraingment when I figure what on earth my computer at home is doing. It works for the most part but something is going on with our firewall and it won't let us connect to the enternet.

Anniversary Weekend

On monday Paul and I will be married for 7 years! I cannot believe it has been that long already! I guess with two kids and working and families the time just flies by.
To celebrate we are going out of town for A night. We only get one because our sitter(grandma and grandpa) have a paper route and grandma can only take one night off. But hey, I'll take what I can get. We are going to Houston tonight and gonna stay at a pretty nice hotel and go out for a nice dinner, someplace that v-town doesn't have. And tonight we are meeting up with some firends of ours and gonna hit the town, at least till I turn back into sleeping beauty at midnight.

But it's gonna be a ton of fun! And I get to sleep past 7:30am!!!!

Andrew vs. Super Nintendo

Paul pulled out his old school Super Nintendo for Andrew to play. We have a game cube and a PS2 but those have a lot more things to do at one time. So we pull out the old school stuff and you would not belive how good he's gotten.

He started off kinda lousey but wow he kicks my butt now. He reminds me I'm not very good at it because I'm a girl and we just don't play games as good as boys. And then he beats me at Mario cart yet again. But he also beat Donkey Cong last night too.

Now don't freak out it's not like he plays all the time. We use game time as a reward system, when he does a good job at school that day, doesn't give his grandma a hard time, eats dinner well. So he can add up his good behaivior tme and use it when he wants to at night to play his game. He usually gets about 45 minutes a night.

Anyway, I just thought it was funny how good he's gotten. It's takes me back to my youth....tear

Better than I expected

Well That talk went far better than i thought it would go.

Like I said before we really like Andrew's teacher. She has done such great things with all the students in her class, not just Andrew. He has learned so much being in her class. It was good that she sees all of the great qualities of our boy that we do. Just to name a few of his fantastic qualities: she said he has great social skills, he can talk to and make friends with everyone in his class. He is always good for a compliment, if you need to know what you are good for he will be the first one to tell you. He doesn't throw fits like the other kids. The smartest kid in the class throws fits like a two year old I hear. He is even tempered, not alot of things bother him and when something is an accident he just says it will be okay and moves on. It's good to know those things when you are a parent.

However, he has a focus problem. She has a hard time getting him to focus on something for a long period. He hates work sheets, but she says all the kids hate those. And she says he's very soft spoken and never sure of his answers when she asks him a question.

The solution?

Well we are going to have him tested for a few things, like ADHD and some other stuff. It seems like there is just a switch that hasn't been flipped on and once we figure out how to do that he will learn much better and faster we hope.

Andrew is a smart kid and he can do anything he puts his mind to. We are going to help him anyway and every way we can and he will do great things in his life! For now we are going to help him figure out how to do it!

A Tummy full of knots

I am meeting with Andrew's teacher today at 2pm. We are trying to help improve his learning of material. I know he's in kindergarten but he's not understanding some things and has to have help with almost everything. He's the youngest kid in his class by at least 6 months. We also are going to discuss the option of having him repeat kindergarten.
If that happens, i think it would actually be good for him. I don't want him to struggle all through school so if he's not understanding the stuff this year it will be just as hard if not harder in the grades following that. But, if he repeats it, he will be the same age as all his classmates and be a little ahead of the game and then the years following he will understand.

Well My tummy is full of butterflies, or moths and knots! Here goes nothing!

Also, we love his teacher this year, she has helped so much and done great things for hi. He even really likes her. he says she is the bestest teacher ever. So this isn't one of those "bad talks" where we don't think she is doing good enough. We may have jumped the gun on putting him in school when he just turned 5 and now we have to help him learn the things he needs to and how to make that happen.

Can't I just get some sleep?!

I am pooped today. Here I am sitting at work while my boys are home most likely watching carttons. (Paul included) All the while I got NO sleep last night.

I have had some problems sleeping for a while now and after talking with my doctor I am on the right, over the counter medicine. Love me some Advil PM!!!

Well not even that could have given me sleep last night!

One of the great things about the hubby working shift work and nights is that Andrew(who doesn't snore) sleeps in my bed. It's something he's done since Paul started this job. So Paul is done working nights and I tell Andrew he has to sleep in his own bed. Of course he dragged on his bedtime as far as he could and even after I turn off his tv he is singing in his bed. Well come 2am guess whose tapping me on the shoulder? I moved over because at 2 am I don't care about who is climbing in or out of the bed.

So here is how the night went for me...
10:35 I fall asleep
12:15am I wake up to Paul snoring SO bad and the tv and a few light were still on, I try to wake up Paul to turn them off and he won't wake up and starts talking giberish. I want at that point to punch him for me having to turn stuff off.
2am Andrew crawls in my bed and I move to the middle between snoring hubby and bed stealer child
2:45am Austin wakes up crying, screaming really for more water. At this time I try to get paul up to help him seeing as i am stuck in the middle. Still no response and more giberish. I get up get the baby back down and crawl back in the middle of snorey and bed theaf.
Through out the rest of the night I try to get some room in the bed without Andrew's knees in my back and telling Paul to roll on his side every 10 minutes.
7:30am it's time to get up for work.

needless to say I am going home and kicking everyone out of my bed and room for that matter and taking a long nap.

Well I guess I should get serious about this stuff...

Well I didn't know anyone actually read this but to my surprise someone actually does. So I need to update some things on life and what's going on in ours.

First
While I'm glad there are those people who can live in cold country, I am not one of them. I hate the cold and I hate the static that my hair is filled with when it gets cold. I look like one of those balls in science class that you touch and all the light inside of it moves where your finger goes, just it's my hair and not light. I worked so hard on my hair this morning and as soon as I walk out the door it grows. DANGIT!!! Another potential good hair day gone.

B.
I don't know if anyone knew I wrecked Paul's car back in september. On Austin's birthday too. Well he finally got a new one. He got a new Camry, it's really nice too. We got car seats to go in that one too so now we dont have to switch out seats and worry about who picks up the kids and who has seats to do so. Paul's mom has a pair in her car so everyone who does stuff with our kids can be safe.

3.
I can't believe that the Christmas break has come and gone so quickly. The time went by so fast, and while I was so ready to send Andrew back to school I miss him during the day. We have so much in common that our interactions are funny. Trying to disapline his is like trying to do the same to me. The boys had such a good time together.
And I had Christmas lunch at my house this year and I actually pulled it off. Now I just have to take down my decorations.
Melissa came to stay with us this past weekend. We had so much fun but it went by too fast too.
We ate our way through the weekend, that's the fun of having a pregnant sister.
My boss gave me a VIP pass to the opening Buffulo Wild Wings and all the food was free! So we got a sitter and ate our way through that night too. Some guys were flirting with us(i think, it's been so long since i flirted I don't remember how) and thinking it was cool that we were twins and then the look on their faces when Mel stood up and saw her belly was priceless.
Oh, and I took her to get a pedicure that afternoon so our toes looked pretty. When I was pregnant she would do the same thing for me so I was able to repay her a little that day.

And last,
I have been tagged so I'm supposed to put 6 (un)interesting things about me. So here you go Erin, blog updated and tagged!

1. I am very grumpy in the morning and even meaner at night if woken up. It takes me at least 2 cups of coffee to at least be approachable.
2. I can't wait to find out if my sister is having a boy or a girl and her being pregnant is so much fun for me.
3. I love to eat, all foods, anytime.
4. I would like to have a vacation this year without the kids. Someplace to go skiing would be nice. hint hint Erin
5. I work at a bank and had a great review yesterday and go a pay raise. I get a bonus is february too!
6. my computer took a crap and so I'm doing this from work. When it gets fixed I will be so excited!
